Dr. Fedders was part of a group of 27 volunteers from the US & Canada that traveled to Zorritos, Tumbes, Peru.
The Peru Navy transported the volunteers by cargo plane from Lima to Tumbes. They took a bus from there to the village of Zorritos. Each day the volunteers arrived at the auditorium set up as a make-shift clinic where they were greeted by hundreds of patients waiting for them. There is no eye care in this area and this is their only chance to get an eye exam and glasses.
Dr. Fedders and the volunteers examined 2000 patients and gave everyone sunglasses. They dispensed glasses to many patients and are in the process of making custom glasses for those who have unusual prescriptions. It was a very rewarding experience to help so many!
